Edinburgh Airport is Scotland’s busiest airport helping over 13.4 million passengers through the airport in 2017. Edinburgh Airport’s strategy is to grow by providing choice, with passenger and flight numbers projected to continue to increase over the coming years.

We are located just 9 miles from Edinburgh city centre. We employ nearly 700 people directly and work with another 100 business who employ another 7000 people to deliver the airport operations. Our teams are important to our business and our operations, and keeping them informed and engaged is key to our success.

About the role

You will be a key member of the Communications division. You will be responsible for helping to develop and supporting the delivery of the Communications strategy including managing the airport’s relationship with staff and businesses on campus.

Reporting to the Head of Engagement and as a key member of the Communications division, you will be responsible for collaborating with internal and external partners and stakeholders and ensuring projects, engagement activity and communications are coordinated.

You will also be a part of the wider team supporting communications projects such as key events, community consultations and communications.

Your day to day responsibility will be to manage the internal communication within the airport and support projects throughout the campus. This will include:

  • Building relationships with the Leadership and Executive team to ensure internal communication support required is delivered across the board  
  • Delivering innovative and timely internal communications and engagement that deliver our key messages and engage our employees
  • Supporting projects from across the campus by providing corporate communication support including signage, social media coverage and internal communications
  • Developing and managing a calendar of communication meetings, educational sessions and reward events for our teams to increase airport knowledge and understanding of key issues and projects
  • Establishing and maximising communication channels to build relationships with the airport team to facilitate easier communication.
  • Working closely with the Corporate Communications team to maintain an understanding of community, media and political issues impacting the airport and react with internal messaging accordingly.
  • Working with the Head of Engagement to maximise community, charity and local involvement in CSR initiatives.
Person Specification:

About You
You’ll be an experienced communications specialist who thrives on building relationships, delivering communications and representing their company. You’ll have strong communication and presentation skills that will benefit your work within the airport.

You’ll be confident delivering a wide range of engagement activities and communication channels. You’ll have experience working in high achieving team, supporting the delivery of large scale and complex projects.

We are looking for a positive, proactive, hardworking team member to join our Communications division. Someone who has:

  • Demonstrable experience delivering communications projects and initiatives
  • Strong communications skills specifically strong writer with attention to detail
  • The ability to be robust under pressure and able to work to tight deadlines in dynamic, fast-moving organisation.
  • The flexibility to work out of hours and on call in response to community needs.
  • Qualifications and experience relevant to the role specifically a PR or communications related degree, Prince 2, Six Sigma
  • Member of a relevant association for example CIPR, CIM, IoIC.

You’ll be joining the Communications division responsible for retail, aviation and trade marketing; corporate and political affairs; media including on call; community engagement; noise management; internal communications; csr; and passenger engagement.
