Role overview

Responsible for managing the delivery of IT projects (or IT work streams supporting Capital Projects) from initiation to completion. Projects will range from business applications, process automation, network services to infrastructure changes.

This role will be responsible for managing scope, project plan, deliverables, financials, quality and ARIaD (Assumptions, Risks, Issues and Dependencies) related to each project. Management of all project communication and liaison with various internal stakeholders, staff and third party suppliers. Report on project progress to Sponsor and Project Workstreams.

The role will work with IT Business Analysts, following initiation and high-level design, to support solution and implementation options analysis. Once preferred option agreed the IT Project Manager will take over accountability for leading the project during final planning and low level design through build, test, implementation and handover.

Principal accountabilities & responsibilities

  • Manage projects in accordance with EAL Project Delivery Team methods and Toll Gate governance
  • Ensure project documentation updated and shared using SharePoint
  • Manage project ARIaD (assumptions, risks, issues, dependencies) using SharePoint
  • Manage project scope and governance on SharePoint, working with project sponsors and working groups to ensure correct review and sign-off of change requests
  • Develop and manage detailed plans and resource allocation
  • Escalate risks & issues and prepare update/flash reports to project sponsor via SharePoint
  • Verify options appraisal and recommendation, review and understand solutions and ensure all relevant stakeholders involved and engaged
  • Manage project financials

  • Stakeholder Management including communicating and influencing at a senior level - key requirement
  • Comfortable working with internal technology teams and third party application / system vendors, and have ability to translate between business and technical requirements
  • Experience of dealing directly with business customers through the project delivery lifecycle
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with business customers on technical subject matters
  • Requires a solid understanding of technology architecture
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time, aiding their solution design and process definition but also stepping in at defining moments to add value and help steer their success
Education and Training
  • Project Management Certification (PRINCE2, APM, PPM, P3O etc.) is preferable
  • 5 years plus experience delivering technology projects
  • Broad experience of delivering and implementing IT change across applications, systems, network services and infrastructure
  • Proven track record in delivery of IT projects
  • Experience in fast paced SME environments
  • Excellent project management skills
