Role overview

We are looking for a Business Development Manager to join our Commercial Transport Team who are responsible for the commercial aspects of access to or from Edinburgh Airport as well as our fastTRACK products. The team currently have a portfolio of around 50 contracts ranging in value from £5k to £5m. This new role will involve establishing and developing new revenue streams, carrying out commercial contract negotiation with new and existing suppliers and seeing through to signature as well as handling subsequent amendments and updates. The role will also be involved in the ongoing monitoring of commercial and contractural performance of Commercial Transport and fastTRACK products.

Principal accountabilities

  • To undertake commercial negotiations on new or renewing contracts and see through to contract execution.
  • To undertake subsequent updates and amendments to all contracts as and when required.
  • To keep all appropriate parties up-to-date with any new or amended commercial and/or operational terms and conditions.
  • To identify new income opportunities and develop relationships with both existing and potential suppliers.
  • To provide ongoing monitoring of commercial and contractual performance of Commercial Transport and fastTRACK products and services.
  • To work with business partners to provide continuous improvement to performance which maximises revenue and enhances the customer experience.
  • Be an effective team member within the Commercial Transport Department and provide support to the Senior Commercial Transport Manager.
  • Contribute to the setting of and meeting of monthly and annual revenue budgets.
  • Support the wider airport strategy for landside development and land use.
  • Work closely with the internal team responsible for the sale of parking space
Qualifications and Experience:

Qualifications and experience

  • This role requires somebody with at least 3 years experience developing new and existing revenue streams.
  • You will have at least 3 years experience undertaking complex commercial negotiations and working on detailed commercial contracts.
  • To succeed in this demanding role, you must combine entrepreneurial and commercial thinking with sound financial and analytical skills .
  • Highly developed level of communication and interpersonal skills in order to effectively influence all stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Highly competent in use of IT packages including; Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Transport knowledge or experience is NOT required but would be beneficial.

Framework and boundaries

  • To ensure all activities within the role are focused upon delivering against Edinburgh’s sales targets and customer service charter
  •  To participate in projects and working parties, carrying out any other duties that maybe outside the standard remit for the purpose of personal development or as may be reasonably required by the company
  • A good understanding of Project principles, however training will be provided on Edinburgh Airport’s specific project process
  • To ensure that any systems and procedures introduced by the company are effectively implemented and adhered to.
