Reporting to the HR Director, you will be working as an integral member of the airport HR team to support line management and the HR Director in the delivery of the people strategy for the airport.  This is a fast paced, challenging role in a complex environment.  It offers excellent opportunities to develop your HR career in a successful, highly commercial organisation.
Principal accountabilities:
  • Advise, assist and influence team leaders, managers and senior managers to make informed business decisions in relation to the effective recruitment, deployment, management and development of their people.
  • Lead internal change projects from an HR perspective including terms and conditions, rostering, and redeployment.
  • Provide expert advice and assistance to all managers on complex absence, disciplinary and grievance cases, referring to HRD for guidance where necessary. 
  • Working closely with occupational health, provide support and recommendations to the business in order to manage absence effectively and reduce risk.
  • Support HRD to ensure each department has in place an appropriate and effective Performance Management Process for all employees, ensuring that objectives are clearly aligned with strategies. 
  • Provide coaching and short training sessions to managers and supervisors on employment policies and practices including discipline, performance management and absence management.
  • Support the HRD in providing solutions and advice in people and talent management activities.
  • Build effective and constructive relationships and partnerships with employees and trade union representatives.  Work closely with department managers and the HRD, to advise on department level Employee Relations strategy, ensuring appropriate fit with airport and national consultative arrangements.
  • Support the HRD in delivery of the people development agenda to meet the business goals and the organisations strategic ambitions.


Person Specification:
You should be a capable and confident influencer who is used to working at pace and with high levels of accuracy.  Experience of HR in a complex unionised environment would be advantageous.
You must be able to manage your own workload and competing priorities with minimal supervision and have the ability to coach and develop supervisors and managers empowering them to be better leaders.
You must be able to demonstrate strong commercial awareness and an understanding of business needs with excellent interpersonal skills and a proven track record of influencing business leaders.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Graduate calibre. MCIPD essential. 
  • Able to demonstrate technical competence through >5 years relevant HR experience
  • Good working knowledge of UK employment law
  • Highly PC and systems literate including proficiency in Word, Excel and Powerpoint and the ability to quickly master bespoke reporting software.
