Job Description:
This is an exciting opportunity to join our busy HR department. Reporting to the HR Manager, this is a hands on generalist role, proactively supporting line management and the HR team in the delivery of the people strategy for the airport. 

Principal accountabilities

  • Advise, assist and influence team leaders and managers to make informed business decisions in relation to the effective recruitment, deployment, management and development of their people.
  • Provide advice and assistance to all managers on absence, disciplinary and grievance cases, referring to HR Manager for guidance where necessary.  Work with HRBP and HRM to build general capability and knowledge amongst the management teams in this area.
  • Carry out administrative activities relevant to role and support the department's administrative requirements as needed.
  • Support the Recruitment team to manage the successful onboarding of candidates including referencing and background checks
  • Support the HR BP in delivering human resources and employee relations policies in consultation with the relevant internal and external stakeholders including recognised Unions and shareholders
  • Build effective and constructive relationships and partnerships with employees and trade union representatives. 
  • Support the HRM and HRD to manage the employee benefits portfolio and pension scheme administration getting involved in delivery of new benefits
  • Support the delivery of our commercial services to third parties
  • Support the team to deliver strategic people projects as part of our 5 year people plan
Person Specification:
This is a role for a pro-active self starter who enjoys working with line managers in a complex, fast paced and exciting organisation.  There will be some flexibility required in working hours which will include occasional evening, early morning or weekend working to accommodate our busy 24/7 airport operation.
 
You should be comfortable having challenging conversations, influencing and advising managers while maintaining a professional and people focused approach to decision making.  You must be organised and detail oriented, we work in a complex and highly regulated environment.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Graduate calibre, MCIPD essential. 
  • Able to demonstrate technical competence through > 1 years relevant HR experience
  • Experience of HR in a complex unionised environment advantageous
  • Ability to manage own workload and competing priorities to end objectives.
  • Very high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates strong commercial awareness and an understanding of business needs
  • Good working knowledge of UK employment law
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven track record as a team player
  • Highly PC and systems literate including proficiency in Word, Excel and Powerpoint and the ability to quickly master bespoke reporting software.
  • Must be able to understand, analyse and interpret data using basic statistical techniques.
