Role overview

The successful candidate will be a detail focussed, “completer-finisher” responsible for supporting the Aviation team (revenue management and business development) of Edinburgh Airport. This role will supply in-depth insights and business modelling, through analysis, to facilitate optimal business performance and support the team to deliver growth opportunities

Principal accountabilities

  • Deliver performance and traffic analysis (both ad-hoc and on a regular basis through reporting)
  • Support the forecasting process (Budget/Reforecast) for passenger volumes (traffic) and associated revenue streams
  • Support the long-term (5YP and 2050 plan) forecasting process for passenger volumes (traffic) and associated revenue streams
  • Monitor and analyse wider market trends (benchmarking vs other airports, market share etc)
  • Monitor changes and additions to airline schedules, performance and profitability
  • Support, maintain and further develop existing models related to performance
  • Support the annual review of tariff adjustments to the Edinburgh Airport Conditions of Use through analysis and updating and developing the existing models
  • Provide in depth analysis, build reports and update the team regularly (weekly/monthly/quarterly) on airline fares and airline profitability
  • Maintain and further develop the team process maps
  • Support new route business cases with insights and research (internal and external)
  • Collaborate with communications team to support EDI destination webpage, update content with the most recent news, statistics and airline schedules
  • Provide analysis and update content on external communication channels such as anna aero and routes online profiles
  • Upskill to create resilience within the aviation data team
  • Undertake any other tasks based on day to day business requirements or as required by the team
Qualifications and Experience:

Qualifications and experience

  • First degree in analytical subject
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with a commercial acumen
  • Curious and inquisitive nature and a passion for solving problems
  • Able to convert and articulate complex analysis into business learnings
  • Keen, demonstrable interest and knowledge of the aviation industry
  • A completer / finisher – goal driven, self-driven and thorough
  • Systems skills: Sound knowledge of Microsoft office pack (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is essential
  • Strong internal and external stakeholder management skills
  • Able to work quickly and accurately to tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • Able to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative
  • Experience of business analysis tools and techniques would be an advantage
  • Tableau knowledge would be a strong advantage


Framework and boundaries

This role is a contributor to the overall success of Edinburgh’s growth ambitions and strategy. Often support projects with tight timelines preparing outputs for high profile audiences. The position will proactively define and establish new opportunities using data, expertise and industry knowledge to support business decisions. Support the commercial financial forecast process based on in depth analysis of the current performance, changing market conditions and updated plans and initiatives. Working closely with the Edinburgh Airport analysts (Operational, Commercial and Finance analysts) to support business requirements and analysis. Working closely with the Route development team to support commercial opportunities and business cases.
