Background:

Edinburgh Airport is Scotland's busiest airport, serving around 14 million passengers per year.  Underlying the operations of Edinburgh Airport is a portfolio of Business Applications, spanning Operations, Enterprise systems such as Finance and HR, and MI/Reporting.

Role Overview:

The role is to design, deliver and support Enterprise applications across Edinburgh Airport.

The role involves understanding the needs of airport staff, how Enterprise Applications are currently delivered and utilised, and being aware of the range of potential solutions in the market.

The role will own and manage the road for all Enterprise Applications, including Finance, HR and Commercial systems. Activities will range from broad market analysis of Applications and strategic options evaluation, to ensuring that the application estate is well-maintained, including patching and regular supplier engagement.

The role will suit someone who can combine a structured and methodical approach with a flair for technology innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and agree the 3-year Enterprise applications strategy/roadmap
  • Translate 3-5 year vision into an achievable rolling yearly plans with key milestones
  • Build and maintain development roadmaps for Enterprise applications
  • Build strong relationships with business stakeholders
  • Work with the Capital Project Delivery Team to deliver projects involving Enterprise applications
  • Research and introduce new Enterprise technologies that can provide benefit to EAL.
  • Responsible for preparing and maintaining Enterprise application documentation e.g. architecture, configuration and developments (technical & functional specifications)
  • Engage with 2nd and 3rd line Support on incidents and problem management relating to Enterprise applications
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Experience of multiple Enterprise applications, including industry-standard Finance and HR systems
  • Experience of working with Business Analysts to scope projects, requirements and business case for Application investments
  • Experience of airport operations is desirable
  • Ability to identify innovation opportunities and work with business partners to deliver them
  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills
  • Ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment
  • Takes a continuous improvement approach, constantly striving to apply lessons learnt
  • Effective stakeholder management
  • Real desire to keep updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional bodies
  • Experience of managing a range of application integration technologies

Person Profile:

  • Degree educated
  • Between 3-5 years’ experience in a similar or equivalent role
  • Solid understanding of software application architecture
  • Experience of fast-paced SME environment
  • Experience of working with highly available critical business applications
  • Projects energy and confidence
  • Credible peer to business colleagues
  • Excellent communication at all levels
