What we are looking for
We are looking for people from all backgrounds/experiences – so if you have excellent customer service, good communications skills and are a great team player then we want to hear from you!
As we provide full training for all Security roles, no previous experience in working in a Security environment is required (you don’t need a SIA licence) but experience in working in a front-line customer service type role is desirable. You must:
- be able to learn and follow set procedures
- be over 18 years of age
- be able to be cleared in accordance with CAA regulations (includes providing a satisfactory five-year reference history and EAL being able to undertake a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Counter Terrorist Check on your behalf).
Please be aware that this role involves a lot of physical work, manual handling as well as being on your feet for long periods of time.
About working shifts
This is a fully flexible 40-hour contract working shifts and when the operation requires, you could be offered overtime.
The shift start and end times will vary with early starts, late evening finishes and potentially some night shifts. The shifts could start as early as 3.30am or your backshifts could finish at 10.30pm or midnight.
Please be aware that as we are a 24/7 operation, you will be rostered to work weekends and could also be rostered on bank/public holidays. The length of your shifts will also vary between 4 to 12 hours per shift.
You will be given a core roster, but it is likely that changes will be required due to operational needs– we would give around 1 weeks’ notice of any shift changes.
In terms of working patterns, it is likely that you would have a minimum of 1 weekend in 4 off and where possible we try to limit single rest days to ensure a fair work/life balance.
What we offer
Your basic pay will be £22,300 per annum plus shift pay. We are in the process of agreeing a pay deal for 2022 and this pay rate will increase again once that is finalised. Shift pay is dependant on the shift pattern you work but could be up to £575 per month extra.
We offer a range of exciting benefits including:
- Competitive hourly rate plus a monthly shift allowance on top of your basic salary
- A bonus scheme - with the first payment in summer 2022
- 32 days annual leave
- Access to free onsite Occupational Health, Physiotherapy and Podiatrist services
- Free uniform is provided (including footwear)
- Free on-site staff car parking (when you are working and when you go on holiday!)
- Discounted shopping in the various retail and catering outlets within the Terminal
- Discounts on some of the public transport services to the airport
- Access to our EAL Rewards scheme including Cycle2Work, Cinema discounts etc.
- Pension scheme
We are passionate about developing people and their career aspirations within the airport. Whether that’s in the Security department or another team we provide secondment and permanent job opportunities across the campus. Whatever role you want to do, we’ll provide all the support you need to help you take flight including access to training courses.
You will receive an accredited training certificate (Level 1 Aviation Ground Security Officer) on completion of the induction training course which is transferable to other airports.
The role also has the potential to move onto our fixed 40 hour or night shift rostered teams (dependant on operational requirements).
