Role overview

An exciting opportunity exists for an in-house Commercial Legal Counsel position within Edinburgh Airport’s Legal and Commercial teams.

You will work alongside Edinburgh Airport’s Legal Director providing advice and guidance across a variety of commercial relationships and agreements. This is a rewarding and varied role with a very commercial focus - working primarily with the airport’s Retail and Property team in the first year, this role would then offer the opportunity to work across all Airport teams.

Principal responsibilities

  • Advising on Retail and Property contracts and arrangements
  • Advising other departments in the business on a range of commercial activity
  • Assisting with contractual governance processes
  • Dispute avoidance and management
  • Practical application of the law and contractual risk management in a variety of situations
  • Giving training on legal topics
Qualifications and Experience:

Qualifications and experience

  • You will be a confident and professional individual able to work in a variety of different settings and situations.You will bring energy to the role and relish the prospect of learning about an engaging and growing business and being empowered to get on with the job.
  • You will be used to delivering concise and pragmatic legal and contractual advice to business leaders across different disciplines.
  • You will be proficient in IT and have strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • We are looking for a motivated individual with good attention to detail, transferable legal skills and a desire to work with a high performing team in a commercial environment.
  • You will have a minimum of 3 years’ post-qualified corporate or commercial UK legal / contracting experience

  • To ensure all activities within the role are focused upon delivering against team objectives.
  • To participate in projects and working groups, carrying out any other duties that maybe outside the standard remit for the purpose of personal development or as may be reasonably required by the company.
  • Responsible for personal compliance with company Health and Safety Policies, ensuring safe working practices to minimise risk to self, work colleagues, customers and staff is minimised.
  • To comply with all legal and statutory obligations applicable to this role.
  • To ensure that any systems and procedures introduced by the Company are effectively implemented and adhered to.
