Role overview

Edinburgh Airport is looking to employ an Occupational Health Adviser to work in our busy, Occupational Health and Well Being Department. The successful candidate should be adaptable to a challenging, yet rewarding work environment and have a pro-active outlook to Sickness Absence Case Management, workplace rehabilitation and health promotion.

This position can be full-time (40 hours per week) or part-time depending on the successful candidates preference.

Principal accountabilities

  • Conduct Pre-placement medicals screening/Airside Driving and Fire Service Medicals, reporting on the outcomes within agreed timescales and Edinburgh Airport Occupational Health policies and procedures and NMC guidelines.
  • Manage health surveillance records and recalls in accordance with Airside Driving and Fire Service Medical policies.
  • Manage OH Health Records and OH data collection to ensure safe storage, security and confidentiality of all OH records, at all times complying with relevant legislation and good practice.
  • Implement good absence/case management/ rehabilitation practice, working in partnership with employees, HR and management.
  • Promote the ‘Fitness for the Future’ Health and Wellbeing initiative in relation to fitness for work, both preventative and rehabilitative and assist in raising the profile of OH amongst all levels of employees and management.
  • Support the Business in reducing absence and improving their people potential at all times
    providing clear pragmatic advice to clients and employees that adds value to their decision making.
  • Attend regular meetings with HR, management and Health and Safety Teams.
  • Work closely with the Occupational Health Manager to seek continuous improvement in the OH health and wellbeing service provided, identifying opportunities to develop the function and proposing improvements and suggestions for continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • RGN (Registered General Nurse)
  • Hold a valid NMC Pin
  • Hold or be working towards an Occupational Health Qualification, either certificate, degree or diploma
  • Have experience of working within an Occupational Health role
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Enthusiastic and innovative approach to Occupational Health and Wellbeing service delivery.
  • Effective health surveillance skills, i.e. Audiometry/ Spirometry
  • Effective OH Case management Report Writing Skills
  • A business focused approach to delivering OH services.
