Job Description:

As Environmental, Health and Safety and Quality (EHSQ) Co-ordinator you will support the function of EHSQ across the airport campus. You will play a key role in the EHSQ team, deputise for the Head of EHSQ as required and be the link between the airport and third parties operating on campus.

Person Specification:

  • Deliver Behavioural Incident Analysis and Root Cause Analysis sessions to address EHSQ issues and improve performance.
  • Lead retail inspections and EHSQ engagement with third parties.
  • Support the Head of EHSQ in developing and implementing the EHSQ strategies  balancing external stakeholder demands against the commercial realities and operating context of Edinburgh Airport
  • Maintain an effective EHSQ management system in line with ISO 14001, 45001 and 9001 requirements. 
  •  Collate and promote examples of EHSQ best practice among Edinburgh Airport and third parties.
  • Promote a positive EHSQ culture throughout Edinburgh Airport.
  • Support departmental managers and teams, providing direction on documentation quality, risk management controls and proactive engagement to improve the EHSQ culture across the business.
  • Ensure reported incidents are investigated and closed off through managing the incident reporting systems and working with teams across the business. Lead weekly and monthly review of incidents and actions taken, identifying learnings and sharing best practice.
  • Allocate Leadership tours and administration rights for the Community App, highlight trends to Head of EHSQ.
  • Ensure compliance with DSE assessments. 
  •  Coordinating the delivery of Root Cause Analysis and Behavioural Incident Analysis training across the business where the need is identified, including opportunities for efficient and safe working.
  • Maintain the EHSQ Management System in line with ISO 14001, 45001, 9001 requirements including providing administration and training support across campus.

Framework and Boundaries 
  • Prepare monthly Board Reports by gathering and analysing data and providing commentary around results.
  •  Support with the internal EHSQ audit programme, including delivering internal audits, creating departmental action plans and ensuring action are closed out in a timely manner.
  • Deliver communication to different levels of the business to build understanding and awareness of EHSQ risks, issues and management across the airport.
  • Support with the preparation of performance reports to the airport teams and third parties to drive continual improvement.
  •   Manage the day to day waste and recycling operation; working with internal stakeholders to ensure adherence to airport policies and driving a culture of continual improvement.
  • Represent Edinburgh Airport as the EHSQ technical expert in internal and external stakeholder meetings as required.
  • Support wider team with admin tasks including raising purchase orders, escorting visitors on site and answering general enquiries.

Qualifications and Experience:


  • Strong inter-personal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business.
  • EHSQ related degree or qualifications would be desirable.
  • Internal ISO 14001, 45001 or 9001 Auditor qualification would be desirable.
  • Assertive and focused on delivering results.
  • Organised with a good attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Dynamic.
  • Ability to operate under pressure.

  • Previous experience of working within an airport or the aviation industry
  • Good knowledge of aircraft and airport operations
