About the role
The Edinburgh Airport Capital Projects team manage the capital investment programme for the wider business. The team is split into 3 disciplines, Development, Project and Commercial Management. A team of 24 people co-ordinate, implement and control all aspects of capital projects, from requirements gathering, optioneering, design, construction and commissioning. The team are responsible for all aspects of procurement and contract administration. The Capital portfolio is approximately £250m over 5 years and consists of circa 450 different projects.
This internship will focus on the development and delivery of Edinburgh Airports Capital infrastructure projects.

Our internship opportunities will run for a 12 week period over summer 2026, starting in June. These are paid at the Real Living Wage, and are full time (40 hours). About the recruitment process
The recruitment process for this role will be comprised of two stages. The first stage will be a Teams interview, to discuss your experience and interest in applying for the internship. For successful applicants, the second stage interview will be in person, with a task on campus to give you a feel for what Project Management is like at Edinburgh Airport.

What you’ll be doing
A sample of our portfolio of projects range from upgrading and maintaining our runway, protecting the environment through controlling our water discharges, expanding our retail offers, developing self-generation energy sources through both solar and ground source heat and improving our security, check-in and baggage systems.
You’ll be supporting on the following:
- Preparation of a detailed business requirements document (BRD) which should be developed in conjunction with the wider business but owned by the project sponsor.
- You will then be responsible to translate the BRD into possible options, developing with the project sponsor a preferred option to take forward to the detailed design stage.
- You will be tasked with preparing business case reports to enable the project to progress each of the project tollgates (TG1 – TG3).
- Following development, you will may be asked to support the delivery stages
- Maintaining an efficient and timely implementation of the project timeline, using project controls where necessary to ensure key project metrics (time, cost and quality) are met
- Collaborating with assigned project sponsors to ensure they are supported throughout the project lifecycle and expectations are managed
