About the role

This role sits within the Aero team who are responsible for maximising passenger numbers at the airport. We do this through the management of our relationships with our existing airlines, developing the airport’s route and airline network with both current and new partners and using a structured data driven approach to identify and deliver opportunities.

This role is a contributor to the overall success of Edinburgh’s growth ambitions and strategy, and often support projects with very tight timelines, preparing outputs for high profile audiences.  It provides an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to develop their experience in the route development sector.

By providing support to the Aero team, the role holder will have the opportunity to gain experience in a dynamic environment, and progress within a team that has brought unprecedented growth to Edinburgh Airport in recent years.  This role offers developmental opportunities, both technical and personal, and career progression within the team or wider airport. 

Through insight and analysis, the Junior Route Development Analyst will supply in-depth statistics, business case modelling and interpretation to target airlines and existing airline partners and provide ongoing performance monitoring and reporting to the wider business.

About the Recruitment Process

The recruitment process for this role will involve an in person interview with our Senior Aviation Manager and other members of the Aero team. You will be set a task to complete ahead of the interview, and the rest of the interview will be competency based questions. We are aiming to conduct first stage interviews mid-late March.

What you’ll be doing

  • Support airline network development by identifying and evaluating opportunities for existing and new operators at Edinburgh Airport
  • Utilise route development and performance tools such as IATA Airport IS, OAG and Skyscanner to effectively identify and evaluate route and growth opportunities
  • Creatively interpret and analyse data to produce professional business cases with coherent narratives, to support route development
  • Effectively articulate business cases to airlines in the form of a sales pitch
  • Support relationship and account management of existing customers by producing, interpreting and supporting analysis on airline performance at the airport.
  • Contribute to the preparation work for major industry conferences and regular airline account meetings.
  • Deliver standard industry insight and reporting e.g. airport market share, analysis of airport surveys, fare analysis etc
  • Provide updates to the team on aviation industry news and changes and regularly share industry insights
  • Create and manage reports to support the internal team functions, including board reports, complex databases and internal presentations
  • Undertake any other tasks as business requirements dictate or as required by the team

To apply for this role, you'll need

  • This role requires the successful candidate to obtain a Counter Terrorist Check, so you must have been living in the UK for the last 3 consecutive years
  • Minimum of 2:1 degree preferably in an analytical subject
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with the commercial potential/interest and passion for solving problems, and to be able to articulate complex analysis into concise narrative
  • Internal and external stakeholder and relationship management skills
  • Experience of business analysis/modelling tools and techniques
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft office pack (Excel, Word, Powerpoint etc.) – advanced knowledge of Excel is absolutely essential
  • Willingness and ability to work with a variety of data tools/dashboards including Tableau
  • Keen, demonstrable interest in and knowledge of the aviation industry
  • Ability to work as part of a team and solo, as required, appropriately prioritising a broad workload with multiple tasks underway at any one time within tight deadlines
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required from time to time
